How to Design a Security Camera System for a Cannabis Grow Opp or Dispensary
Cannabis farms and dispensaries have stringent regulatory requirements for their surveillance systems that differ by state. Here's how a surveillance system for a Cannabis Farm would look:
Explanation
The Blue cones represent the Deputy 2.0 camera. The Deputy's 1080p (2MP) resolution records at 30 frames per second. With its 110 degrees of coverage, it covers wall to wall in most rooms.
The Green cone shown in the floor plan is the Warrior 2.0, recognizing someone up to 50ft away with it's 2MP resolution. Since the field of view on this camera is 85 degrees, it was a good choice for the central hallway in this cannabis grow opp.
The Purple cones show you how far away you can recognize someone with the Warrior 4.0. The bullet style casing makes this camera ideal for easy wall mounts. Doing 80 degrees of coverage and 4MP resolution, the Warrior 4.0 helps cover the large rooms and outdoors of the building in the floor plan.
The Yellow cones show you how far away you can recognize someone with the Viking 4.0. The Viking has a motorized optical zoom which is ideal for recognizing someone up to 125ft away. The lens can go from 2.8 to 12mm, for a field of view ranging from 91 degrees down to 27 degrees.

The Warrior is our most popular camera model. It is tied with the Deputy in terms of how easy it is to install and position, since neither camera requires you to remove any part of the camera to screw it into the wall/ceiling/soffit. This makes it ideal for outdoor use as you don't have a tendency to trap moisture in the lens, as is common with dome cameras, where you have to remove the outer glass dome to mount them. The 81 degree lens is great balance between covering a large area and identifying faces and license plates. Although you can use this camera inside or out, the most common use of the Warrior models (the camera comes in 2MP, 4MP, or 8MP) is to cover the side of buildings or large sections of yards.

The Viking has a motorized telephoto lens that allows you to optically zoom in to see a distant area more clearly. You can adjust the angle of view with our apps, over the web, or via your SCW NVR. Just like with a point-and-shoot camera or a pair of binoculars, when narrow the field-of-view, you zoom in on an area and you can see more detail in that area. Although the Viking is a very popular camera for homes that have a mid-range (35-100 foot) points of concern like gates, roads or driveways, this camera is also frequently used is corporate environment such as long and narrow warehouse aisles.
