Hi, this is Travis with SCW. Today I'll explain the difference between mainstream and substream. When viewing your admiral NVR through the web interface, the mainstream provides the highest video quality. When streaming your cameras, this is what your NVR saves to the hard drive. This is great when viewing a single full screen camera through the web interface, but as you add more cameras to the stream, you may notice the video starts to lag or gets choppy, or you may even notice your computer being slow to respond. That's why we have the substream. The substream is a secondary video stream that is lower quality, but the bandwidth and computing requirements are much lower. This is how you'll want to stream multiple cameras. You can switch between the two streams on each camera individually, or change them all at once. To change an individual camera, click the number to the right of the name and choose either one or two. One is mainstream. Two is substream. To change all cameras, click this icon at the bottom and choose either one or two. I recommend using two when streaming multiple cameras to change which stream plays by default. Head to set up client default livestream. You'll have the option of substream or mainstream. Press save when you're done. For more information, head to scw guide.com.
