What it does:
The license plate detection model looks for a license plate when a vehicle is detected in video feeds.
Allows you to search events by license plate characters. You can associate cars with people. You can then create whitelists and blacklists from these cars. You can also search events by specific individual, whitelist, blacklist, or unknown persons. You can create alerts based on these same criteria.
Best Practices:
Prerequisite:
Requires vehicle detection, license plate detection, and both of their camera placement requirements. Only runs when a vehicle has been detected and a license plate has been detected inside that vehicle's area.
Horizontal Angle and LPR
Not all license plate detections can result in the license plate recognition system identifying the letters. If the camera is mounted high and looking downward, it will be looking down at a vehicle and it will not be effective at reading the letters. If the camera is mounted on a horizontal angle, the plate characters will be difficult to see and it will not be effective at reading the letters. If the car is changing direct rapidly or traveling at a high rate of speed, motion blur may make it more difficult to read the characters.
