Using Survail to Monitor Camera Health
Survail keeps track of camera network status, so you don't have to.
Log In To Survail
You can log into Survail at https://app.survail.com/.
Camera Status on Dashboard
At the top right of the dashboard page (which loads as soon as you login), you can see our camera status report. On this report, you can notice that only 28 of 29 cameras are online.
Click on "View Cameras"
If you have a camera with an issue, right in the camera status report section of the dashboard there will be a link to the camera settings page.
Locate the Camera with the "X" Icon
The camera cards on the camera settings page all have icons above their names. These icons either indicate that the camera is successfully connected (green check mark) or has a problem (grey "x"). Also notice that the camera with the grey x has its screenshot greyed out. You can see that this "Dumpster - offline example" camera is not connected.
Status is at the Top
This "Dumpster - offline example" camera is being reported as "disconnected from survail" - this means that the IP address does not exist, is not accessible via this device, or does not have an RTSP feed. In other words, Survail is saying "there's no RTSP feed at this URL."
Other Statuses Include:
Survail will report the "unauthorized" status for username and password errors for devices at that endpoint, "successfully connected" for great connections, "networking errors" like extreme packet loss or other forms of network congestion or cabling issues, or "disconnected from survail" for endpoints that do not exist or have a RTSP feed.
