The Sheriff is very similar to our Deputy model - except that it has a 1K10 vandal proof glass dome surrounding the lens. Glass domes are iconic and what people usually think of with a security camera, but the glass has benefits and drawbacks. Despite our logo being a glass dome camera shape, most of our models don't have them anymore because they aren't that DIY friendly. To install most glass dome cameras, you have to remove the outer dome to reveal the mounting screws and then screw the dome back on after mounting the camera. In more humid areas, this can trap moisture inside the camera; for this reason, most glass dome cameras are installed indoors. The Sheriff comes with some silicon moisture absorbing beads to help combat this issue (please don't remove them). Glass domes are sometimes used outdoors especially in situations like college campuses or apartment complexes where "non-destructive vandalism," such as turning the camera away from its intended target, is common. Glass domes do not hide which way the ip camera is pointed. IK10 is the highest measurement rating for protection from physical damage for security camera products, so it should protect against some destructive vandalism as well.

What makes the Sheriff 4.0 Unique:
IK10 - The Highest Rating for Physical Damage Protection
This camera has achieved a rating of IK10.
IK10 is the highest measurement rating for protection from physical damage for security camera products using the international standard IEC 62262 scale. IK10 is the highest rating possible, and this camera should be protect against many human-based forms of destructive vandalism.
Most security camera manufacturer and retailers use an image of a hammer hitting a camera as a way to explain vandal proof ratings. This can be misleading.
Please don't misunderstand the scale and think that IK10 cameras are indestructible. We're happy to have gotten the highest rating possible, but want to make sure that we're not creating unrealistic expectations.
There's no ability to make a product that can never be damaged, and hitting any security camera with a hammer will almost always damage it. Technically, IK10 means that it is has survived a 20 joules impact repeated 5 times with no damage to function, in a lab and under normal environmental settings. As a point of reference, a baseball bat swing from a professional MLB player, in a normal horizontal stance, with a wooden bat, causes about a 200 joules impact on the ball. A metal bat or metal hammer has the ability to transfer even more energy if the contact area is smaller.
Although our camera has the highest rating possible, the IK10 standard isn't really as high as these "IK10 hammer" images make them appear. IK10 camera are not bomb proof, or bullet-proof, or hammer proof. No matter what other companies put on their images, if you hit their products or ours (or really anything made of glass) with a hammer or baseball bat, you probably are going to break the glass and get hurt.
Audio In / Outs
This camera has both an input and output for a microphone and speaker.
To connect an external speaker and microphone, just twist the speaker wire / microphone wire together in the same way that you connect speaker wire for a stereo. There are four wires in total; two for each connection, a sound channel and a grounding wire. The wires are labeled.
Wide Dynamic Range (WDR)
This Sheriff 4.0 ip camera has Wide Dynamic Range.
Wide Dynamic Range splits each frame/image into many boxes and it scans for in inaccuracies and adds the right amount exposure to create a balanced and high resolution video shot. Very useful when recording in situations where there can be a large difference in light levels.

3 or 5 Year Warranty
The Sheriff 4.0 comes with a 3 year warranty. This warranty can also be upgraded to a 5 years. We recommend doing so for commercial clients.
Motion Detection, Alerts, and VCA
This Sheriff 4.0 is part of our Admiral motion detection ip camera line. Feel free to read more about these features by clicking on the link, but here's a quick synopsis:
Alerts and Notifications:
Get email alerts with snapshot images of motion detection alerts or VCA events
Set a schedule to get emails only on the hours of the day you want.
Get Push Notifications to the SCW Go Application for Android and iPhone.
Recording:
Create your own customizable record schedule, including recording based on the day of the week, hours of the day, or even choose not to record for periods of time. Set constant recording during business hours and only motion during closed hours.
Motion, VCA, or 24/7 Recording - Record based on motion detection, VCA (video content analysis), or set the system to record 24/7. You can even record based on alarm inputs!
No Recording Delay / Pre & Post Event Recording - If your system is set to record based on motion or VCA events, you can have a 60 second pre-event buffer to grab footage prior to the detection. You can also set the system to record up to 10 minutes after an incident is detected.
Customizable Motion Detection Recording through VCA events:
VCA features do vary by camera model. This Sheriff 4.0 supports these VCA features:
Intrusion Detection - Monitor areas with precision, define zones, set time thresholds, and sensitivity.
Line Crossing - Create virtual lines to detect people or objects crossing doors, entrances, and more.
People Counting - Determine how many people are entering and exiting. Keep and review daily logs.
Audio Detection - Listens for Rises or falls in volume, and sudden loud noises.
Vandal Detection - Get alerts based on tampering detection, defocusing, or any dramatic scene changes.
Corridor Mode
This camera has Corridor Mode.
Corridor mode allows you to flip the image on its side so that you can change the 16x9 ratio to 9x16. This is advantageous in the case of hallways, side yards, or corridors (hence the name) where the extra space vertical space is needed and the extra horizontal space would only show you more wall or fence area. To use corridor mode, install the camera with the lens pointed 90 degrees from center and then enable the corridor mode on via our software.
ONVIF Conformant
This Sheriff is a ONVIF S and G compliant IP camera.
ONVIF is an open industry standard encoding language for the interface of IP-based physical security products.
Bitrate - 4MP
At 4MP and 25 FPS, while recording at H.265, this camera should use 3.5 Mbps of the NVR's bitrate budget. (With H.264, it should use 7Mbps).
